To follow (logically?) from this, and as they have already been mentioned, how do axle counters work, given that trains have differing numbers of axles? Is it something programmed from the train description (eg 1M65)?

Yes, it is a pain in the ….. No idea why they have not bothered to announce it. And with the Easter holidays coming up the trains either side are going to be packed, plus many pax who will turn up for it and assume it is running as usual.

I see that the excellent Doric Arch at Euston are advertising that they have a machine to can beers on site, so you can take your favourite tipple with you onto the train. We are travelling through Euston in a couple of weeks, so I will report back.
