    Old T Key Help

Speaking of T keys.... I made one today using two bolts, a MIG welder and a bench grinder. It does it's job.

What's the fuss about? They're hardly going to give it a proper paint job overnight and let it rub off at high speed.... Next major exam (ie. one that will keep it out of traffic for a few days) and it will probably be repainted.

    Can diesel loco's stall?

The above is a diagram of a gearbox in 175. Same principle as to what you'll find in most DHMUs. There isn't any mechanical contact between the engine and wheels. These change gear (aren't any conventional gears to change btw) by filling/draining the torque convertor/fluid coupling(s). Say on a...

Are our railways haunted? (ghost stories)

A piece on wikipedia about this loco, that's all I've seen. It's still working on the mainline with staff working on it daily, yet there's been no mention anywhere about recent hunting's or owt like that... So my conclusion is - Brush traction employs an exorcist!!

    A train with a wheelflat?

I've noticed on the Marches last year that quite a few of those hoppers had been scattered in sidings along the route due to this. Usually signallers that notice these things unless they're locked up in PSBs!

Get your wallet or chequebook out!

Funds restrict these things. Scrap value is high, so only a high bid against a scrap merchant will see one preserved. Besides, the 20 that have been put up are heaps (bar 60038?).

    Skip bashing: is it wrong?

Okaii, this was on a pres line. There was a few beer cans in the first coach along with their owners who were socialising with fellow cranks... a moment when one chucked toilet roll towards me.... No big deal, just thought I'd add to the thread...

Awww drunk people are fun. Having toilet roll lobed at you for occupying the front window just adds to the fun!

Get your wallet or chequebook out!

It failed, has no heat (and along with it, potential) and it'll get some ching back to pay for some diggers to knock more depots down!
