Any ideas for my trip to British Steel Redcar?

Just recently learned the station will be (maybe) permanently closed on Dec 15th. I'm heading down there on Wednesday 4th December. I know there is a problem with public access outside of the station but I was wondering whether I could perhaps e-mail or contact the company to perhaps get...

    Completely Empty Trains

Yup I used to travel on that line a fair bit (until Northern changed the timetable). Had the whole train to myself usually!

    Completely Empty Trains

Hmmmm... The Wolverhampton to Walsall (via Portobello Jn.) comes to mind.... [Parliamentary Train that is rather difficult to plan as it doesn't show up on National rail sometimes....]

    Completely Empty Trains

Realistically a train can never be empty as there is always a driver and usually a guard o_O

    Completely Empty Trains

Only Parle-Lovers! :) I've been on that service quite a few times and it's usually very only old train geeks that are travelling (usually the same ones too!). Very few people actually get off in between Stockport - Stalybridge. You do get the odd member of the GP appearing though...

[Request] How do I go about visiting British Steel Redcar (Station)?

Considering visiting in the next few years (if it manages to stay open - hah). I've heard that it is not publically accessible so I am just wondering how exactly would I go about exiting the station? I intend to take lots of pictures and video and walk back to Redcar Central (Who doesn't like...

Public Access to Lympstone Commando station?

I am hoping to be going down to Exeter St. Davids to spend some time going to different low usage stations as well as Lympstone Commando. I do know that access outside of the station is strictly prohibited but access to the station itself technically isn't. I don't want to appear unannounced...

Future services for Liverpool Lime Street?

Liverpool Lime Street is set to go under major refurbishment work next year with at least 6 months of engineering work taking place. I was wondering what new services could we expect in the future? I know there will be the TP service to Scotland in 2019/2020 I reckon there will be a Arriva...

DTVA (Teeside) Airport proposes relocation of railway station

Hmmm... will the old station still be operational if this goes ahead? It probably will have a parliamentary service (obviously). It's such a quirky station I would love to go there again at some point in the future...

Stations which have platforms shorter than the train:Discussion

I posted this as I know there are quite a number of stations which the trains are longer than the platform. These stations that come to mind: Berney Arms Green Lane (when 6 - car trains are in operation) Helsby - I remember being told only to alight through certain doors (can't remember the...

Anyone know any maps where Rail Jns are displayed?

Hello there, I was wandering the web for any maps or the like which shows the locations of Rail Jns geographically speaking, but I couldn't find any at all. E.G a map (geographical/ OS survey map, that sort of thing) that shows Lifford East and West Jns. Would be really cool to see if any do...

[Trivia] :Maximum time on a train in a day

I've been to Darlington from Waterloo (Merseyside) - took 3hrs 25mins. Also, I'm going on a 4hr 21 mins hour journey from Liverpool Lime Street to Ely next year. From Waterloo(Merseyside) to Ely (Full journey including connections) - 5hr 03mins. I wonder if anyone has been from Wick to...

    Football

This is going to sound odd. I like football because on selected match days Manchester United Football Ground Station (right next to the stadium) is open. I've been - it's quite nice to exit the station into the stadium and loop at some of the exhibits there (it's like a miniature museum).

Trivia: Who operates your local station?

Waterloo (Merseyside) is mine. I'm only 5mins away from the station. Makes planning trips a lot easier. :)
