Guided buses: not enough regard for safety?

The busway buses are air conditioned. The buses have to slow down at crossing points because there is a gap in the guidance kerb and there is often a bus stop immediately after the crossing. It would surely be possible to automate the passage of buses through the crossings.

Bus services that require reversing (except in bus stations)

Dartline service T (Exeter High Street - Topsham Quay - Woodbury) reverses into a purpose built turning point between a former quayside warehouse and a busy pub beer garden in the car park at Topsham Quay. Despite the unattractive former warehouse (now used as an antiques centre) Topsham is a...

    Go-Thames Valley

As a native of Oxford I can confirm that it considers itself to be in the south east. There was a big row when Oxford got its own TV transmitter that provided midlands TV. As for Go Thames Valley, I wonder what Reading Buses think of it and whether it will cause any confusion with its Thames...

How long are bus stop shelters meant to last

I always think that the Q type shelter would provide very little actual shelter.

Stagecoach South West - Fleet News & Discussion

I travelled on 66113 yesterday. It was a nice enough bus with good seats and good leg room where I was sat in the window seat of the first nearside eat in the raised area. The next stop display was of the computer screen style above the gangway at the front of the bus. I cannot comment on the...

    Flixbus Discussion

I don’t know about ferroequinophbia but the big advantage of coaches over trains is that you are guaranteed there will be a seat for you and space for your luggage.

Traveling by bus/coach to school Sports/Games sessions

I went to a grammar school in the centre of Oxford in the 1960s. No school transport was provided because there were already bus services from all parts of the city. Those living more than 3 miles from the school had their fares paid by the city council, others, like me, had to pay. The school...

Fictional bus company sites mistaken for being real (was: 'Scam bus company sites')

As Padbus, my fictional model bus fleet, has been drawn into this discussion a few words from me may be appropriate. I started fictional fleet modelling when I was in my teens: initially using a fictional location but in a real location (Oxford and the Cotswolds) since 1980. It is a pastime...

Stagecoach South West - Fleet News & Discussion

A press release on Devon Live says Torquay will getting six 25-seat minibuses, a dozen 31-seat ‘midibuses’ and 37 double-deckers, each of which has 73 seats. That matches the total figure of 54 quoted above but not the split in vehicles types. Time will tell. For those who enjoy local news...

The big question remains. When will Exeter get a socket to plug these electric buses into?

    Multi Storey Bus Stations

I did once experience the interchange in its original form and, like your dad, I felt unsafe there.

Stagecoach South West - Fleet News & Discussion

If bustimes.org is to be believed, Enviro 100EV 46041 and Enviro 400EVs 80263/4 had occasional outings on Torquay services in January. Today it is showing that Enviro 100EV 46041 and Enviro 400EVs 80261/3/4/72/86 are in service in Torbay so it looks like there is being soft launch of the...
