One wonders if the approval of the expansion of Luton and now Gatwick getting across the final legal hurdle to activate the 2nd runway into operational use, is there an actual chance of that a third runway at Heathrow may actually be approved and built in the 2030s?

Not to stray too off topic, but that is pretty much the similar thing that happened when the original Edinburgh (Turnhouse) airport was on Turnhouse Road not very far away from the railway line, before moving it in the 1970s to where the terminal is today.
