R179 removed from service for the second time in a row

Major update: The R32 will return to service on the (J) and (Z) lines when phase one re-opening of NYC begins this Monday. Also, the (A) line is getting a few R160s to fill in for service (surprisingly enough).

R179 removed from service for the second time in a row

I known of Subchat for a long time. It was one of the most popular websites for NYC railfans to gather online back in the day, a small chunk of people still post there.

Acela 2 on its way to testing

I am loving the overall train design, a great departure to what we often get here in the States. If this train is successful for Amtrak, this could help accelerate the high speed train movement in the U.S. in light of the recently opened diesel high speed service in Florida (private operator).

R179 removed from service for the second time in a row

Nothing final as of yet on that end. Right now though, a few R160s are running on the (C) line to fill in for service. As for the R32s, we'll have to wait and see on Monday; Monday is when New York City begins Phase One post-lockdown and on top of that the MTA has stated they will be running...

The R179s have been pulled from service for the second time in a row due to a train de-coupling while in service on the (A) line at Chambers Street station. The entire fleet has been pulled out of service until further notice. The MTA released a statement saying that each and every R179 train...

Vandals wreck model railway exhibition following break in at Welland Academy, Stamford

Read the article on the BBC: absolutely saddening to see. Not surprised because there are folks out there who believe railfans and model railroaders are losers and think we’re all a bunch low lives when we’re really not. -_-

This? (Warning: sound may hurt your ears)

    South Ferry loop

Background In NYC, the last stop of the (1) train is South Ferry. There's a island platform and two tracks. But prior to that, there used to be a loop station at the stop. Opening in 1905 as part of the first subway extension into Brooklyn, the Outer Loop served passengers for well over a...

    Beginning September in Boston

I recommend riding all of the subway lines and some of the Green line. I highly recommend checking out the trolleybuses in Cambridge at Harvard station on the Red line.
