Bus services you think are useless.

First Huddersfield's 382. Not completely useless but being scheduled at the same time as the 184 - especially on a Sunday when both services are only every two hours - rather than providing a more regular service makes it fairly pointless for most who could benefit from it.

Trains all at a stand in the Manchester area... (Thursday afternoon 06AUG2026)

Would that be needed in this situation? Couldn't trains be talked past signals (or authorised to proceed at a walking pace and read to stop short of any obstruction, or similar) to a suitable platform in most cases?

Bus services that enter private property (except shopping centres/supermarkets/works only)

The 398/399 used to go into Storthes Hall Park when it was student accommodation for Huddersfield.

Things which cause bus boarding/alighting to be slower now than 40 years ago.

In the old days, the split entrance also allowed for boarding on the right hand side and using the Saverstrip cancellation machine whilst others paid cash.

Trivia: furthest distance for a re-sited station compared to original location

New Pudsey? Allegedly a replacement for Lowtown and Greenside as well as Stanningley. I make it about 2.5 miles by road from Greenside.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

My assumption is that the bus was out of service and was on that road to keep it out of the way

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Signed as 14'6" according to Street View. There are some photos of the stricken bus here. I've seen that vehicle on RRBs throughout the TRU project. https://www.facebook.com/gazzhalltherealreporter/posts/pfbid0aCqcP8KCBqLj8o39puqntNFNyurT1118KhcN8VUsLeGKu4fmrJgnrXrcaveRPazSl (Photos show a...

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

There's been a bridge strike in Brighouse, ironically courtesy of a Rail Replacement Bus. Looking at the location I suspect it would have been empty of passengers. (Ignore Metro's lack of local knowledge on where it was)...

"Trivia" Through stations with extremely few passenger trains which do not call

I think it's diverted or bustituted at the moment due to TRU, but Huddersfield usually has a Sheffield-Manchester Airport service running through in the early morning for route retention.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Understand there is a bit of a farce at Slaithwaite this morning with trains booked to call but access to platform 2 blocked by security fencing with signs saying it will reopen early on Monday. Luckily those who departed the train were were able to alert the guard before the train left and they...

    West Yorkshire bus franchising

I think another angle is that it's a phased roll out, so being able to differentiate the experience on the franchised operation to the legacy operation may be important - particularly if there is different ticket validity. On a separate note, is it just me or would the new moquette not be out...

    West Yorkshire bus franchising

Some more photos of it in daylight on the Mayor's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MayorOfWY/posts/pfbid02bQvncZ41GigfuDcYbuzVZiHzehyotVHUULFwqdFKUs7rWv4MryQcym772n6oDTu5l

Bee buses not accepting £20 notes

I still remember a grumpy bus driver objecting to the £1 coin I tried to pay a 20p fare with as a kid. "It says Yorkshire Rider on the side of this bus, not Yorkshire Bank"

    Bee Network Service/Route Discussion

I'm not sure that's fair, the link to Uppermill is useful. The tedious Greenacres loop less so.

    Bee Network Service/Route Discussion

I wonder whether that went back in service or tipped out at Marsden? Good point about Greenfield, I was thinking it was at the other side of Uppermill for some reason.
