Poor GWR communication of cancelled trains - North Downs Line

It may well be the case that turbos are failing through the day causing the lack of notice. They are stretched to the limit with limited spare sets meaning cancellations are inevitable. I guess we can thank the dft for their mismanagement since COVID.

    Platform 1/2 Reading

Slight issue. There is no capacity between Reading Oxford Rd Jn and Southcote Jn

    Traction speed maximums

Driver only trains do 125 mph between Paddington and Didcot. I believe there is a rule that units with a front fly door are limited to 110 mph

    Guildford Platform Layouts

Sadly, the reason for fencing nearly all stations from the main line is the far too regular suicides at these stations. If the fencing has saved one life it's paid for itself.

    GWR Intercity EMU?

track curvature at Newport means only 8 doors on 387s. The doors being 1/3-2/3 is the issue. 10 cars also have to use SDO.

    GWR Intercity EMU?

387s already go as far as Cardiff. Although capable of being 12 car the curvature at Newport means that they are 8 car length. As a rule, they match the pet timings. The key issues are the lack of first class and catering, along with few spare sets being available.

Apparently there was local news coverage yesterday. If anyone can add a link that would be great.

    Theale platform 3

Theale platform 3 is only used for terminating trains during engineering work. It is regularly used for both the cement and aggregate terminal and the fuel terminal.

Declassification of First Class on busy long distance services

Personally, if money was not an issue I'd travel Bristol Parkway to London then East Coast to Scotland over sitting on a Cross Country.

Decarbonising the Western (Great Western Electrification - Part 2)

it's more the case that the heavy stone traffic uses the route very frequently.

Decarbonising the Western (Great Western Electrification - Part 2)

Wiring the Devon banks seems a strange thing not to put in. Makes a lot of sense as substantial amount of power is used (battery or diesel) climbing these, hence the extra generators on the 800s that head South West.
