As work progresses rapidly, especially between Leeds and Huddersfield. When is it likely this element of the project will be done? Are we looking at mid to late 2027 based on the dates further up the thread?
If this is the case, how many years will existing stock, ie 185s be in use? I'm sure...
Drove over the new a62 leeds road bridge today. There is a very sharp s bend in place from the existing road towards Huddersfield over the bridge with 20 mph painted on the road. All the cycle lane bits are green and there are grippy red surfaces towards the junction just after the bridge. This...
Queuing systems were not in place and that was the problem. The passengers that used the footbridge pathway quite legitimately after seeing the platform allocation online were shouted at and herded by officials and then kettled near the buffers. The reason given was "health and safety". However...
The doom loop was quite apt, they were telling people to leave the platforms but these gates were closed and because no one had a ticket everyone became trapped near the buffer area. They then opened up a few gates, but the trapped passengers got mixed in with arrivals who started using the open...
Yesterday there were issues with delays on LNER at King's Cross due to a person hit by a train earlier in the day somewhere on the network. There were cancellations and delays around 5pm onwards especially towards Leeds. This meant hundreds of passengers were waiting for services and...
Does anyone know why Dewsbury is keeping the blue and white theme and not going the full weaver green/black like batley, mirfield etc?
Had a peek at the works yesterday and the extension of the leeds bound platform under the road bridge looks to be extremely narrow. What are the limits of...
Years ago when Leeds was been redeveloped the temporary station (was it Leeds Whitehall?) was advertised with the promise of reuseability and modular design where the bolt together concept and quick / cheap design with decent shelter provision could be used across the network. Indeed the station...
My frustration for the TPU stations is that it is a once in a lifetime renewal and the fact that a simple structure (literally just a roof propped up by some steel work) was not added to any of the stations. Instead there are glorified bus shelters.
Jealously, you speed through the paused White...
I think the term used above "shoddy and rushed" in regard to Mirfield is the perfect description.
Its such a shame as the brickwork/ stonework in the new entrance from the tunnel is really well done amd shows off some decent craftmanship, but it is let down by the bodge it and scarper...
I had a look at the completed Mirfield station yesterday and there are ups and downs.
Ups are that the stairway and lifts are 100x better than previously there. The platforms are longer and everything is much brighter.
Downs are that the tarmac finishing on the platform is terrible and will...
With the platform extensions taking place at Dewsbury, does this mean the existing layout is remaining?
I thought the passing loop was been removed and the leeds bound platform built out, but it now looks like its staying the same, just with 200m platforms rather than their current length.
The 0818 Northern service from Mirfield to Huddersfield departed 5 minutes early yesterday. It waited at Deighton station for 6 minutes and then arrived at Huddersfield more or less on time.
If a passenger arrived at the station at 0815 and the train has already left, what options are available...
I used the train from Mirfield to Huddersfield this week and have to say the scale of the works along the route are vast. New bridges, a new cutting been dug out new stations, electrification and re-tracking.
The new mirfield station actually looks huge up close. The workers were busy cladding...
There is also the question of whether they will use electricity between ravensthorpe (which I'm sure they will serve when rebuilt) and mirfield as the TRU should be nearing completion by then and be a fully electrified line. Or is a few miles of track not worth the hassle of changing power supply?
Just got a TRU pamphlet through the door as a "railway neighbour".
It's says for Mirfield the schedule is:
Apr25 Old P1 closes and the new entrance from station road to the temp P1 opens.
Dec25 New platforms 1 and 2 opened with a new accessible footbridge to the car park.
Summer 27 Platform...
