It's simple. If you are sitting in a seat that says "may be reserved" - reserve it yourself, there doesn't appear to be anything suggesting you can't do this. Or reserve a seat using the 10 minute system before you even board the train.
If CrossCountry promote this properly so the majority...
At present I believe they have only two trains fitted with wifi, which is free throughout the whole train at the moment. I was lucky enough to travel on one of these trains and it's a good service, speed remained fast throughout the journey.
Are they a good thing? To me they just seem like another thing that can go wrong as was the case recently in London. Maybe I'm missing the advantages...
the 6.37 departure from London St Pancras goes all the way to Scarborough on Saturdays this Summer ;)
EDIT: and the 17.03 departure from Scarbourough seems to be the return working.
Not true (for the route I work on). They get fined by the TOC if a train that is supposed to go out with a trolley on is missed. The management at my depot do care about getting 100% coverage and many of the staff are willing to help to achieve this (and poor attendance without good reason is...

People need to take more resposibility, yes some rubbish should be collected by on board staff but i think it is 100% fair to ask people take the rubbish they have managed to carry around with them up until the point they got on the train with them when they get off the train.
The mess some...
Sorry if this has already been covered.
I've just seen one of their trains at Birmingham Moor Street sitting next to a steam train! Does anyone know what's happened to their rolling stock? Has it been transferred to other TOCs? Would be interesting to know what it's doing there
thanks to the first few people who posted advice its very much appreciated :D
the thing i find interesting is there's no mention of SCAAT or GBT tests on the invitation letter, but i assume they will do these tests at some point on the day?
I would be grateful if anyone that knows anything about the assessment days with crosscountry could share some advice, i'm nervous!
The assessment day is on Monday and because of the delays to post i only just recieved the letter and practice materials today.
It's the team exercise and...
