It might be instructive to take a trip on Merseyrail and see if there are any posters for anything that isn't entirely fluffy and inoffensive. Tempted to pop down myself next week when I have the chance.
Morrissey's a weird one, seems at one point or another he's had a go at just about...
Yes, I'm assuming in good faith that the claim is not strictly false. However I feel that the attitude betrayed in the submission is one that railway passengers are frequently a burden and it would be much nicer if they organised themselves like airline passengers - checking in well ahead of...
I think the first sentence of the submission proper makes virgin's attitude clear: "The vast majority of long-distance fail travel is discretionary." - so they don't think they have a duty as a public service to make sure people can travel. I strongly disagree with that.
I can never tell if comments like these are directed at those for the change, or those against it.
"Good <time of day> everyone" does seem like a slightly better option when said by a human as it gives people a little more time to notice and pay attention but getting the time of day right...
Much appreciated everyone, thanks. Travel time is still up in the air but looks like however it turns out I can use FastJP. I really appreciate the reassurance as well.
I have one of those "free single journey anywhere on the Northern network" delay repay tickets, and at the risk of asking a stupid question wanted to double-check that my journey plans are kosher.
I'm looking to travel from Lancaster to Hull. I figure the first leg will be Lancaster to...
Such is the nature of life - this could happen to anyone for a wide variety of reasons. In my view the solution is improved rights for those accused but not convicted (for example, the right to privacy) and improved access to legal aid to mitigate the financial effect of having to defend...
There's been some suggestion that maps are handed out which exclude the piccadilly line. Does that mean the maps handed out at the airport are different from the one available on the airport website? http://www.heathrow.com/file_source/Heathrow/Static/GIF/Transport_and_Directions/LHR_Train_Map.gif
A few thoughts on this;
Firstly, regarding the role of the CPS. If, as other posts have indicated, this case was tried in a crown court then that would mean it had already passed through a magistrates court who will have agreed there was a prima facia case. If it was an obvious non-starter...
185s and voyagers were both ordered to provide a new or enhanced service, and turned out woefully inadequate after these services, shockingly, attracted more passengers. TPE are providing a lot of new or enhanced services with 5 (admittedly longer) coaches, where a service exists that'll be...
What concerns me about this, aside from the obvious horrific erosion of due process as the way is paved for such a scheme to become compulsory, is it could lead to people taking these "petty" crimes far more lightly. Efficiency is not necessarily a good thing - being hauled in front of a...
The problem is they aren't competing with unassisted humans, they're competing with shared autonomy (which is already universal in some forms). You can have a fully driverless train, or you can have a safety trained driver with their hand on a dead mans switch while the system reaps all the...
The metros you mention (at least the genuinely driverless) benefit from being grade separated which makes it a lot easier. Its been possible in that context for decades.
Cars have a much shorter stopping distance and slamming on the brakes if something that isn't actually a cause for concern...
