    Berlin 2026

Hello, there are a couple of vintage threads but can I ask which lines in Berlin are decent to ride and look out of windows at interesting things in Berlin? Going early May.

    Swiss trip report (October 2025)

Hope it's ok to make a new post on this, mods please move or delete if not. Trip taken second week in October. I have low mobility so that's why I go on about station size. I won't go into fares and timetables loads as I know the readers of this do not need that help, but I will mention bits. I...

    Switzerland trip, comments welcome

Thanks so much everybody. I will now disappoint you all by saying that I am being a 100% full fat tourist and doing the named special trains rather than the local services, partly because, well, I'm happy to sit there and watch and I have a bit of a disability which means that proper walks...

    Switzerland trip, comments welcome

Very grateful for any expert thoughts on this forthcoming trip in early October - thanks. Day 1: Early to Geneva, train to Zermatt, Gornergratt if it isn't dark by then. Day 2: Glacier Express. Zermatt to St Moritz. Day 3: Bernina Express to Lugano Day 4: Lugano to Lucerne which should arrive...

Kyle of Lochalsh To Mallaig via Skye

I've done Glasgow to Inverness on that route, though a ferry was cancelled meaning that I needed a cab from Armadale to K of L dearest part of the journey. Stunning trip.

First-time user - Ticket gate etiquette at busy termini?

I'm disabled, got a stick and everything. Use the wide gates. I didn't think that they were reserved for disabled people, just that they are easier to use (mostly because you have longer to pass through). The toilet thing, interesting. I like that I don't have to queue for so long at some...

Travelodge, Premier Inn or similar in Greater London with parking.

OK it will depend on the dates but go to booking.com and type in 'Hanger Lane' and there are decent hotels near Park Royal tube and Hanger Lane tube with parking. The rates will be really high when there are events at Wembley, though. The roads are difficult to cross, the Hampton by Hilton...

    Any advice for a beginner?

Buy a little fold up stool would be my only suggestion.

Travelodge, Premier Inn or similar in Greater London with parking.

But where are your parents coming from? Plenty of options near the main motorways from all parts, tell us and we can sort exactly where to stay.

Best way to get to London Heathrow (LHR) from Manchester

Another vote to find a local hotel, no shortage of them, including at stops near Piccadilly line stations in the vicinity. Not worth the stress of a broken down coach or other delay. The Premier Inn app is good, as is Booking.com

    Trainline 'not available to buy'

Thanks, yes to Oyster and to checking at 2amt to see what the status of the 04:07 is (would they run a bus for just one cancelled train I wonder or just say get the next one). Can't argue with that fare.

    Trainline 'not available to buy'

I have just seen that Trainline will sell me a Return ticket with the 4:07 as the outward journey, so, as I knew, the Forum has delivered the goods. Thank you.

    Trainline 'not available to buy'

That was my feeling, to be honest. It's hard to imagine E Croydon refusing entry to the platform, I suppose, so should probably just turn up and see what happens...

    Trainline 'not available to buy'

Hello. So, I have to go to Gatwick early Saturday morning from E Croydon. The 04:07 would be ideal. Trainline shows this service but says 'Not available to buy'. It's available to buy on Southern so I guess it's running (unless anyone knows differently)but I wondered why Trainline says this...

    Aberdeen to Penzance

Excellent to get live reports. What's the capacity like in Standard, as far as you can tell? Thanks!
