Isn’t it just to kill time towards maintaining a 15-minute frequency opposite the 73?
When XPlore had every other 5 from Barnhill terminating in the city centre, they ran them to the science centre in service for a similar reason.
Yes, and was confusing at the bus station when you had a service advertised for Dundee/Ninewells that went all round the houses before coming back again.
Not bad for a guess, then!
The 74 and 72 between them give Dundee/Monifieth/Carnoustie a link to Dobbies, with the 74 also providing a connection for the Monifieth "suburbs" onto Dundee/Arbroath services.
What's lost is the direct service to Dobbies and the Monifieth "suburbs" along most of...
Probably way off, but speculatively:
72/73 every half hour from Ninewells, timed opposite each other (i.e. leaving every 15 minutes combined - as they do now). All 72s to Arbroath via Dobbies; all 73s to Carnoustie via Broughty Ferry, with 1ph extending to Arbroath.
74 is then a connecting...

If that’s fully accurate, interesting that only the end cars have the half-saltire, and only at the driving end, the middle has none, and the other two have the saltire in the middle.
Good news. As much as I like the HSTs, they are now getting far too old.
Even though the livery is being standardised, hopefully the “InterCity” branding is retained (minus the “7”, since Dunfermline decided to go and complicate matters).
Maybe more for speculative discussion, but it’s a pity...
There’s a video on Reddit showing the collapse, with the large electronic advertising screen giving off a flash before falling:

There’s photos on social media of the fire spreading round the corner into Gordon Street (above the Blue Lagoon), so that’s no surprise.
I wonder if they’ll start dousing the hotel and other parts of the station?
Maybe I’m misunderstanding, but it’s almost as if the RAIB are trying to argue “we investigated and came to conclusions, so there’s no need for anyone else to do it”.
Which is a ridiculous argument. An FAI is required by law because two of the deceased were killed while at work. And that’s...
