You perform the move, using the hand held radio to avoid conflicts with other movements and to hear any instructions from Designated Persons who control movements in Fuel Points and Maintenance Buildings (which you don't get buildings at my Depot, but you do at others). Also on your way there, while pulling your points and setting your road, listening on the handheld radio for broadcasts of other movements that are entering your end of the yard that might effect you. If the unit is going to service the next day you also prep it once its arrived on sidings. The prep procedure takes 20-30 minutes and involves testing brakes, doors, sanders, safety systems and a full walk around the outside of the units to check important componants below solebar level.

I only just found your message! I really don't know how this UkRail private messaging system works properly yet. I'm probably too late to answer your question on Depot Driving Interview questions as you've had it already, but I take it your still interested in hearing what a typical day (or should I say night) is for one?
Typcially you start at 19:00 (the time most depots start to get busy) for a long night shift, swipe on at that time then you are given about 30 minutes at the beginning to get changed (i.e. get your safety boots on, overralls, etc.) and to read notices (very rarely are there any for depot driving that you need to read!)
After this you go to the OTL (Operations Team Leader) and he gives you instructions which is normally a move, he will say what needs moving where. E.g. 185116 from the Fuel Pad to 5 Holding Siding and couple.

Not feeling confident this course will be starting in April. Better not be left in the lurch with no job offer ever happening after all this.

Just got told have passed medical but they can't offer me a job because they don't have confirmation of April start date. Great.

Yeah, i received a call yesterday saying i had done really well, and subject to medical and reference check, i have the job! Course starts 2nd April.

Was told only East Ham available before i had the interview, and when i mentioned it, they said it was for both, although they didn't seem 100% on that. I'd go for Shoeburyness as its closer.

Think it went really well. Seemed to know more about C2C than they did! Should hear by the end of the week. How did yours go?
