Proposed new Channel Tunnel services discussion

Interesting, thanks. It feels very unsurprising but counterproductive. Growing the market, as in Italy and Spain is in everyone's interest. Why they seem to determined on using as little paths as possible when there's clearly HSR demand is beyond me, but I don't think in Saint-Denis.

Proposed new Channel Tunnel services discussion

This is very SNCF but, Velvet and Kevin are also happening, within France. Kevin will even use LGV Nord. How much issue have they had there, legally? I know SNCF have not been happy, but that's a usual day... The very nice Velvet livery alone will make it more attractive than InOui... Edit...

Thameslink to replace cushions on class 700 ironing board seats to improve comfort.. Finally..

Hard to believe the fleet have reached 10 years in service already. Red always looks nice to me, although feels a bit odd on Thameslink, it is named after a river after all... Why are Siemens paying for it? Surprised by that.

As I expected. The fact ORR said this was an objection, from not only Eurostar, made it inevitable

Recycling plant fire causing Southeastern and Windrush line disruption

I don't know the answer, but it's ok, people on the Sydenham Corridor can rely on the summer reduced Southern service... From someone I know commuting this morning, it's been awful. Half hourly 8 car Southern trains on a route which normally has 12tph peak service (with 10 car Southern...

Virgin Trains granted track access for international services by ORR

The decision letter is interesting. A feeling Virgin have been favoured, particularly here (page 3): I do wonder if there's going to be a legal battle here... Edit: Oops accidentally posted before ready: It has been addressed in the letter part of it here (pg 5): One other thing I was...

    Heat Related Disruption - 13 Aug 2026

Building trains without openable windows is stupid. I don't care what the cost analysis says.

Is 'South Central' a better name than 'Southern'?

South Central made more sense for their network geographically. Southern will always be the region to me

Stations rebranded to Great British Railways design / Rail Alphabet 2 & 3

Well, exactly. It looked black to me, but it might be very dark green. It's all such a disappointment. A simple red and white brand like the signs done properly could've looked very classy.

Stations rebranded to Great British Railways design / Rail Alphabet 2 & 3

I finally travelled through GH. I had hoped they'd be installing signs that look better than this. Apologies for not the best of quality.

New passenger numbers and Crowding figures published

Thanks all for the responses. So had I haha. It's really not a great to state these are the 'most crowded' when most people's idea of crowding isn't based on such rules. I'd take 20 mins on a crowded Thameslink over 10 mins crushed on LO any day. When this methodology is eventually reviewed...

New passenger numbers and Crowding figures published

How is London Overground never on these top ten stats when people regularly get left behind on the northern end of the Sydenham corridor AM peak? I've never seen crowding as bad as LO, anywhere.

Proposed new Channel Tunnel services discussion

With the things like rebalancing of the economy, you'd think looking ahead and trying to induce demand from major British powerhouses would be sensible. I understand this decision was years ago now, but I found it and still find it, short sighted; it's exactly the kind of thinking which has held...
