I have been told that on the One Show this evening (on now) there will be a piece about the history of signalling and will be based around East Midlands signalling centre (IECC I think) with interviews including a signaller. May be of interest to some! The piece hasn't started yet although...

I do think he meant removed, he clearly is very anti-level crossing. There are for example no LC's on the WCML and that works ok, as there are other ways to get across a railway line i.e. bridges. Expensive though!

From what I have heard the driver didn't even know it had happened until they were contacted some distance away, so I guess they are probably not feeling very good about it but thankful for not having witnessed it.

The point was he was not P/way as previously mentioned... No offence but people on here sometimes seriously read far too much between the lines :roll:

Turns out he was a Contractor not NR staff. Glad he survived!

Looking forward to tonight's episode as a friend of mine is on the show dealing with fly tipping, and we all get to wind him up afterwards ha ha!

You can put the worms back in the can ;) I am sure full safety regs were followed... NR are not 'that' stupid! I have often walked around looking like an out of place bottle of irn bru and you don't need PTS, just TVP.

Good point about the line blockage, because come to think about it he was being followed by a film crew!

The narrator stated that he was told he would have 2 minute window to retrieve the dog, so I would imagine that the signaller would have been informing him of approaching trains and guiding him to the location. I wouldn't think he would have been in any real danger. The nearest access point was...

This episode was great, really enjoyed it. I met Ben today (the lad who went out to the dog and fatality), and he is a great character and very enthusiastic!

I have had a conversation with someone who has already seen some of the footage, and it sounds like it's going to be brilliant!

Well I should hope that this tragic incident will speed up the construction of the proposed bridge! It shouldn't take someone losing their life though :(
