@Sultan1056 I notice you mention on two occasions in July 1981 the existence of an 0930 Durham - Kings Cross. Although I am strictly from the Beazer Homes League of bashers, I can't remember Durham ever having services that started there for Kings Cross. Were they summer additionals or something?

IIRC those semi-fast services out of the Cross were tightly timed , about three hours for 188 miles with 7 stops and required hard running by Deltics or 47/4s. (Although someone who published train timings in the DPS magazine Deltic Deadline did comment at the time that it was as much about time...
