I have a colleague who just will not stand for it. On trains or buses if someone is playing loud music she will challenge them.
Most of the younger staff were aghast at this, "what if they have a knife" was the common question. Older colleague did not care, thinks standards should be...
I'd debate that. The Northern Delay Repay page says they compensate people or are 15 mins or more later than they should have been because a train was delayed or cancelled. In this case I was 24 hours later than I should have been because of the cancellations.
"Our Delay Repay scheme provides...
Morning all,
Having a slightly odd delay repay issue with Northern. A mate and I were set to travel on Sunday, 22 Dec 2024 but our journey was impossible because of the storms.
The journey should have been Poulton-Preston 10:28-10:44 but that service was cancelled and so was the one after it...
Seen several stories like this where "key workers" have been turned away from railway stations by private security guards.

In this case someone is turned away at Bradford, and Northern end up saying:
I am not suggesting national...
About a year ago I was at Streatham station, my train was delayed and I always wait at the far end of the platform (near to the Samaritans signs which I noticed for the first time that day). I was happily listening to music and my headphones ran out of charge so I got a tad annoyed, and then...
I have cut much of your sarcasm from the reply, I did explain to the RPI, as I said in my initial post you can see quite clearly that I said "When he reached me I asked to see his ID, he then asked why I wanted to see it and I stated that as I was using my bank card I wanted to check his...
Thank you RJ, simply all I wanted was to know this chap was an RPI. While I understand using a bank card instead of an Oyster (and in this case it is just one less thing for me to misplace, and it is easier for me to track spending) attracts risk, I think this is probably easier for the railway...
What possible other need would I have? Nobody else asked the RPI for ID, I assume they were satisfied with his authenticity.
No, the uniform was not good enough. I have no desire for some rogue to go about scanning my bank card, hence why I asked for ID, which I I did obtain, he showed me his...
I do tend to agree with you. I interviewed the head of commercial banking or a large international bank group today (after the rude RPI), and their advice was not to provide card details to anyone unless they were willing to prove they needed them.
I did not think my request was unreasonable...
Yep, it's a shame. I believe that people in these kind of roles should be willing to do anything they can to aid customers, not behave like a child. I frequently have to show my ID for things and do it happily
