    Thameslink fare evasion self-report (England

The other day, I left M&S without paying at one of the self-checkouts (my contact less asked me to put a PIN in and I didn't notice). I went in to pay the next day but as someone doing this was so unusual, it cause them quite some hassle. I also got to see how many people walk off without...

Stations with "Train Approaching" bells (Trivia)

I heard one the other day (albeit at Goathland, so probably doesn't count)

GTR penalty fare cancellation notice, received 14th July - Advice Needed

Not sure what it is like down South, but the postal service up in the North / Midlands is shocking at the moment, with even first class post taking over a week to arrive. I know it is more money, but is it worth sending on one of the guaranteed next day services ?

    Allegedly caught using freedom pass

Hypothetically, was this the card of someone you know, or one that you found in the street ?

GWR Pre-Court Settlement (£1,762) – Railcard lapse + long delay, need advice on settlement/hardship

Just to be clear, are the fares they are chasing all from the 2023 to 2024 gap ?

Is it right that being able to afford a solicitor seems to improve the chances of avoiding prosecution?

This is going to sound really cynical but, if I was a solicitor, I would consider seeding forums with seemingly intractable problems and then come back six weeks later saying 'xxxxx Solicitors solved it for me and I was let off with a warning'. Not saying it has happened here, obviously, but...

Caught with my partners student oyster card

I appreciate that you probably don't want to say what you said to TFL, as that is effectively your 'product', but it is still hard to see what truthful mitigation could have been put forward in this case. Paying up £875 for something that appears to be hopeless is a big step - Do you think that...

Caught with my partners student oyster card

Are you able to share what they wrote about your circumstances. It seems to be a slam-dunk case so would be interesting to know what they said

Advice for Notice of Intention to Prosecute

Agreed. The offence here is technical, rather than moral, so no need for too much self-flagellation

    Southeastern Advance Ticket Question

I did have another ticket on the same booking (anytime single from St Pancras to London Bridge) - I just didn't mention it :)

    Southeastern Advance Ticket Question

I played safe and did that anyway. Southeastern's website says 'Advance tickets are only available as single tickets at specific times and on selected routes, but you can mix and match Advance tickets and times to suit you'. I've no idea what that means...

    Southeastern Advance Ticket Question

I have two tickets for today. One is Selby to Kings Cross, with an Itinerary departing Selby at 0911, Ticket Type 'Advanced Single' and Route 'Valid on Specified Hull Trains only'. Fair enough, I understand all that. I then have another one from London Bridge to High Brooms, with an itinerary...

    Threatened to be prosecuted

In practice, they never will. Also, worth mentioning that if this was all the OP had done, they would never have been pulled up on it either.

    Threatened to be prosecuted

Just a side question on this, but is there any inherent issue if someone gives you an unused return portion of a ticket ? I have given away unused (paper) legs on my village Facebook group in the past.
