Not sure what it is like down South, but the postal service up in the North / Midlands is shocking at the moment, with even first class post taking over a week to arrive. I know it is more money, but is it worth sending on one of the guaranteed next day services ?
This is going to sound really cynical but, if I was a solicitor, I would consider seeding forums with seemingly intractable problems and then come back six weeks later saying 'xxxxx Solicitors solved it for me and I was let off with a warning'.

Southeastern's website says 'Advance tickets are only available as single tickets at specific times and on selected routes, but you can mix and match Advance tickets and times to suit you'. I've no idea what that means...
I have two tickets for today. One is Selby to Kings Cross, with an Itinerary departing Selby at 0911, Ticket Type 'Advanced Single' and Route 'Valid on Specified Hull Trains only'. Fair enough, I understand all that.

Just a side question on this, but is there any inherent issue if someone gives you an unused return portion of a ticket ? I have given away unused (paper) legs on my village Facebook group in the past.
