Radley and Culham both serve several hundred passengers a day. Culham has regular commuter traffic in the mornings as well as incoming passengers for the labs. Appleford is much quieter but it has a limited service and catchment.

I'm only repeating what I read elsewhere from witnesses that were there that he ended up using the footbridge (by retracing his steps presumably). I don't know the location. Was the train slowing for a station beyond the crossing and ended up stopping short when the driver applied the brakes?

The reason "cyclist" in the headline winds people up is his mode of transport is not relevant to the incident. I expect he drives a car too so "Motorist almost gets hit by train after jumping barriers" would be just as accurate. For all we know he's just pushing a bike (might not even be his) to...

Jeremy Vine wasn't there. Bystanders did remonstrate with him. He's not a cyclist, he's a bloke with a bike.

Locally to me I think the Lambourn Valley Railway would have made a very pleasant preserved line. Very picturesque and interesting history with Welford Park. Lambourn would be a good place for a stroll/cream tea at the end of the line :)

Could be, I was there in April. There is an information board, a short piece of track and some buffers as well. There is a small plaque on the signal but other than Lynn & Hunstanton Railway I can't read the rest of the text on my original photo!
