Believe that 3S59/3S60 has had a loco swap for Sunday’s run, I’ve seen three separate reports on the Yahoo group for yesterday and today quoting 66544 and 66849 (in place of 549). I’d assumed the first report was a typo given the similarity of the number!

The previous post you were replying to asked if 197s seen at Stapleton Rd were route learners, which you suggested was the case. I was just adding the information that they were using 150s on these route learners too.

Some of those route learners have also been operated with 150s.

Could that be the end of the Westerleigh line? There’s also the OTP depot but I guess that could be accommodated somewhere else. Sustrans will be on the case immediately given they already have a path on the remaining section of the former Midland route.

Out of interest, where from and how was the Valenta engine obtained for 43044? Are there more remaining, were any repurposed for other uses as some locomotive power units have been in the past? Though I would have thought most would be worn out hence the replacement.

Could class 73s have the diesel engine replaced with a battery for the general work they do other than the sleeper work? That would keep some of the versatility, though would there also be a weight and potentially an RA penalty? Or fit shoes to class 93s given they seem to currently be a...
