    London Gateway

Hi, just wondered if anyone can help me out by sharing a route map of London Gateway? It’s one of the few terminals I don’t have! Thanks

    TPE Sheffield

Hi Can any TPE Sheffield drivers tell me what it’s like there? Are there many nights etc? A copy of the roster would be perfect if possible. Many thanks !

    EMR Kettering Qualified Drivers

Thanks for that info. Perhaps once the depot is more established the roster will be shaken up. There seems to be a pay gap opening up between Operators but the pandemic hasn’t helped.

    EMR Kettering Qualified Drivers

I mean it won’t attract Qualified Drivers away from other companies. Yes there will be Trainees queuing up as usual but they aren’t advertising for trainees currently.

    EMR Kettering Qualified Drivers

Very odd roster. 4 weeks of late on the trot at one point. Sunday’s inside and if the salary is right on Aslefs website, good luck getting applicants for that!

It’s not very unusual for LU signallers to give the wrong wroute thought.... I should know seeing as I drive it everyday for 6 years!

Coupling and uncoupling with passengers on board

Every company has its own policy on coupling in service. It’s based on risk assessment and requirement. London Northwestern can do it with less risk of injury to passengers thanks to the slow speed setting and auto couplers on Desiro units.

    Driver took a wrong route

Most frequently wrong routes accepted and taken by the driver is when the driver frequently uses both potential routes e.g. going through the middle road when booked to stop at a station in a loop. It’s extremely rare for a driver to accept a route they do not sign. For example on the...

    Class 172 Refurbishment/Snow Hill Capacity

They do on Chiltern. They hate the 172’s and much prefer the Clubman or Mk3 trains. The 172’s have a plastic interior with rubber flooring so they rattle and shake.

    Class 172 Refurbishment/Snow Hill Capacity

I used to drive 172’s for Chiltern and they do suit stop/start work hence why they were used a lot on the Gerrards Cross terminators. Once or twice I managed 95mph between stops at Northolt Park and West Ruislip! They typically change gear 15/25/35/45/55 mph which means they’re forever going up...

    Class 172 Refurbishment/Snow Hill Capacity

It’s a small improvement but hardly was worth buying new trains at the time. Class 172 don’t even get into top gear until above 50mph and the line is mostly 45mph.

    Class 172 Refurbishment/Snow Hill Capacity

    Apologies yes 378 not 379.
