Splitting up the Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern franchise post-nationalisation

Be very difficult to split Thameslink and Great Northern. On the GN side drivers drive both services.

ECML disruption - broken down train near York (21/02)

I was also on this train. Poor effort by NR/ LNER. They decided not to implement single line working as was to much hassle causing no end of delays behind us. The issue with the 801 changed more than once which also just led to confusion with the passengers. Every time something like this...

Werrington (ECML) diveunder could have been done better

Still get a freights running across the junctions at Spital and New England Nth Jn to access the GBRf depot. Not much can be done about them all the ECS from the Nene without completely rebuilding the railway at and around Peterborough. The Werrington diverunder does what it was built for.

GTR - Who is it you drive for out of WelwynGC?

Same company regardless. I'm a GN shunter but spend 50% of my time dispatching TL trains. A few 700s we send out run on GN services despite saying TL on the side.

Steam Loco Power Where does it come from?

Tornado has a steam powered generator and IIRC an axle on the tender is connected to a alternator. "In addition to the above, Tornado has a sophisticated electrical system, deriving power from a Stones turbo-generator, batteries and a tender mounted alternator."...

    Multiple Working

If it is a stopping service it may not get about 75mph for example so running a 158/150 mix is not really a problem and will still keep to time.
