    Future of Class 379

I was crossing over to platforms 7/8 at Cambridge Station and in the far sidings at the depot it looked like there was one (maybe two) 379 units sitting there. If it was a 379 I wonder what it's doing at Cambridge and not with the rest of the fleet.

    Farewell 317s! :-(

    Future of Class 379

No sign of any 379 units of the WAML for a few weeks now. Are they now off lease?

    Thank you that explains it!

    Class 317 withdrawals.

A bit off topic I know but I saw a surviving 317 in the depot adjacent to platform 8 at Cambridge with lights off and no sign of life. Every couple of minutes the engine fires up and makes a loud 317 rattling noise for 10s or so before going off. What is that noise? Why is the train still doing...

    Class 317 withdrawals.

I will miss the 317, in particular the 317/6 which remains the comfiest commuter train I've been on. Bit sad seeing the pictures of 661 being scrapped, but as others have said they have done a very good turn. Just a shame with the year 2020 I've not got the final few rides on the 317 this year...

    Greater Anglia Rolling Stock Updates

Wonder if they will get a respray or remain in GN colours?

    Greater Anglia Rolling Stock Updates

I had a ride on 317343 this evening between Cambridge & Liverpool St. A few confused passengers were not sure if it was a Kings Cross service due to the GN livery. Seemed a nice enough train, not as recently refreshed as the regular 317/5 and 317/6s. How come Greater Anglia have taken these...

Hope it can be fixed soon.

    317/7 Demonstrator Unit

Does anyone know what has happened to the Greater Anglia 317/722 demonstrator unit? I haven't seen it in service for quite some time.

    Class 317/7's out of storage.

That would be great news if it ends up happening. The 317/5 and /8s have given great service on West Anglia, but their interiors are in a very tired state and desperately need some TLC. Many of the seats are broken away from the seat frame. After finding a seat still in one piece, passengers...

    317722 Rebuild

Hi All. Has anyone heard how the rebuild of the Class 317 722 unit is going over at Bombardier? It will be really interesting to see how it looks with all the changes going on. I wonder if they'll be redeployed on West Anglia main line, or if they'll go off to a different line?

    GBRf 317 EMU drag 03/04/12

So they're just sit in warm storage in Eastleigh for an undetermined period I suppose.

    GBRf 317 EMU drag 03/04/12

The inter-carriage doors were unreliable. They were part of the "cutting edge" design of the interior but never quite worked right. Even with these faults, I'd still happily have them back instead of the /5s. They are in such a state and the interiors are yuck. Surely they can't be kept in...

    GBRf 317 EMU drag 03/04/12

Yes the air con and windows were not a good mix. People used to rage on a hot day if you went round closing windows not understanding the basic premise of air con operation! Then the air con would over heat and just pour cooling liquid all over the area by the train doors - good times. The...
