I have seen empty trains using the Whiteinch North junction to Whiteinch West junction chord so unless there's a specific technical reason I dont see why not.

Maybe an opportunity to improve the entire structure and lower the approach road? I have no idea of the lay of the land there, just thinking out loud. Clearly not enough warning signs about the bridge being low....

@waverley47 Thanks for the in-depth reply. My initial response wasn't intended to be glib. I just recall some particular details that seemed to be penny pinching like longer single-track sections than originally planned and a number of overbridges and underbridges built to single-track width...

It's largely a West of Scotland thing. Walk around Glasgow and you'll see tons of red sandstone buildings. Walk around Edinburgh and you'll hardly see any. The hotel building of the former Princes Street station had the sandstone transported in from the West.

The McDonalds/Pizza Hut junction is at "Four Corners" to use the vernacular. And it's ALWAYS been like that. :lol: And the station underbridge is unofficially known as the Hielanman's Umbrella. And, again, it's ALWAYS been like that. :lol: Two places I avoid at all costs if I'm in the city centre.

As a Glaswegian I sadly have to agree. The city centre these days is a sihthole and I avoid it like the proverbial. I live fairly central but work on the outskirts so I thankfully never need to head in to or through it.

They couldn't go back to calling it Clarkston, cos there's a Clarkston on the East Kilbride line. Anniesland went from 2 platforms to 3 platforms around 2005.

I assume it was when the line was electrified c.1960.

It looks like there's a bit of space to the west of P11 (now P10)? Could they not move that track westwards and then realign the ends of the platforms to free up enough space to restore the original P10? I've only been to Kings Cross three times in my puff so excuse my lack of knowledge...
