Lots of freight drivers are on the verge of redundancy. The unions are trying to find positions for these lads and are in talks with the TOCS. So could have something to do with it.
I would seriously look and apply elsewhere. I honestly can't see Freightliner recruiting trainees for the foreseeable future. The freight industry is on its knees at the minute and doesn't look good. There are lots of things that need to be addressed with the drivers at HH.... Hence trainees...
SW8158 reading your comments mate you most probably got a rejection due to your current driving experience.... You say 12 month PQA? it's little things like this how they sift applications and CV's these days to get the numbers down.
I wouldn't say the job is easy as such, it's how you approach it. some find it more stressful than others. I enjoy the driving....more often it's the shift times that's the difficult part.
Sure all TOC/FOCS have some kind of sickness monitoring. Some have a 3 times then monitored for attendance and such. What I don't think is ideal is if say someone has say 5 1 days sick in the year and is warned about his sickness as then joe bloggs then has 2 3 month spells and nothing is said...
A bit harsh that mate. A warning for 6 days sick, what happens if you break your leg or something. Or even worse end up in hospital for weeks. The last interview I had they asked about my sickness/attendance record. So I wouldn't worry about it if you have already told them.
I recommend you look into how on its knees the freight industry is, seriously. It won't recover. The coal will never be the same again. The company highlighted just like Schenker a surplus of drivers because of all this. The unions have now kept these drivers employed. I just don't know how else...
Correct it is laughable....in reality drivers know what's happening. you mention retirements. Use your brain, what do you think will happen if IM have say 20 retirements now? They will either not replace them as the HH guys will swallow the work up so that all there drivers meet there allocated...
At last someone with my interpretation on the industry. Why some can't see this is quite worrying. The facts are there. There is more drivers than work fact!!! Some need to accept they won't be made up as drivers for Freightliner. Just move on, get over it,apply for other positions Otherwise...
If you believe there will be a course then fair enough... But current drivers driving trains now know fine well with the current climate that it just won't happen. How can it? HH are taking a chunk of intermodal work to actually keep a large percentage of drivers from been redundant?!! . So why...
