    French sleeper train route query

Not in the day due to volume of traffic but at the times a sleeper will pass through I don't see why not, I don't think it closes for maintenance, I often see loco and operational moves in the dead of night

    French sleeper train route query

It doesn't need to reverse, there's an alternative route from Thun to Bern that approaches from the correct direction for Basel, I can see it from my bedroom window

    London to Switzerland direct?

I do London to Bern every few weeks and I very very rarely go via Gare du Lyon, find via Strasbourg much easier

    Slovenia Tourism promotes rail routes

Be even better when Ljubljana has a station back, what's it look like currently? There was a reduced service and locals being cut short at Šiška last time I was there

    Rome-Pompeii FIP

When I'm in Italy I never use FIP for Frecciarossa, I book in advance, and often find Italo first to be cheaper than an advance in second on TrenItalia

Who uses local public transport in Switzerland on Sundays if shops aren't open?

For example I went to Fribourg today, then did a spot of shopping at Bern Bahnhof in the way back

The rapid rise of fare dodging in Switzerland

Well seeing as I had one guard refuse to read my coupon, and just say "no" when I asked him to, I'll take my experience over this essay, it feels every month I go, the staff get worse

The rapid rise of fare dodging in Switzerland

I've had a few bad experiences with SBB ticket staff, and also their ticketing sales and policies, and some of the staff seem to have an attitude of going out to actively book up as many people as possible, valid ticket or not

    Switzerland break of journey

Fantastic, I have FIP so only really use Point to Point if I'm not using coupons so this is great to know. My girlfriend has a GA so we try to make the most of it

    Switzerland break of journey

Next week I'll be staying at my friend's in Geneva, then heading to Bern to pick up my luggage, then going on to Züri, will a point to point be valid, or will I need to buy a Geneva - Bern, then Bern - Züri? AIUI they use distance based pricing but one ticket will just be easier

    Monzo Bank

Their paid service is good for the cost, a bump in your interest rate, a greggs every week and a cinema ticket every month, plus phone and travel insurance for £7

Towns or Cities where you were born or lived that have declined or improved over the years

However the character and charm of Manchester is disappearing. I'm only in my thirties and a lot of my favourite pubs and bars have gone, replaced by gimmicky theme bars, massive turnover of restaurants and soulless apartments. I understand the need for the apartments and offices for tax income...

    Montpellier-Zaragoza: no through ticketing

I'll try that now, thank you!

    Montpellier-Zaragoza: no through ticketing

I am currently booking a trip to Spain using FIP, Ffestiniog have confirmed they can book the domestic RENFE services, but not the AVE from Lyon to Barcelona. Which is a bit of a spanner because this is the only realistic option on the date I'm travelling

    Walking and Rambling discussion

I'm a very fairweather hiker so not done any in months, however I have a few on my list to do soon. One is the Broadbottom bluebell fields once spring hits in the next few weeks. I'm planning to try and do this early and then head up to Glossop to add a few more miles through the moors. Had a...
