    TOC's transfers/moving

It's far easier to say no to people relocating and hire local applicants instead. It would be madness to have such a clause after investing six months worth of training, route learning, assessing etc, just to bin then off when they refuse to move.

    TOC's transfers/moving

Northern have a strict 45 minute rule.

Switching from LNER host to Northern conductor

Has the pay rise been agreed? The basic of £35-36k means achieving £50k involves an awful lot of overtime. Rest days are paid at time (on the West at least although I accept the East may be different and more relevant here) and Sundays at 1.25 - even at £200 a shift (there's plenty of six hour...

Northern - Trainee Train Driver - Recruitment Discussion

Ex-FNW don't get paid travel time, although ex-TPE do - I don't how if the east side get it or not.

    Northern Conductor deal

Results of the referendum for the Role of the Guard and Extension of DOO are in - 480 for and 855 against.

Cancellations on Blackpool South line on Sundays

They don't pay well for Sundays - that's the major reason so many people refuse to give up their day off! Unfortunately a lot other workforces are pushovers - rail workers have fought hard for their t&c's and won't give them up easily. So, no matter how much it upsets you, the only resolution...

Cancellations on Blackpool South line on Sundays

Deep down it's really not. If guards had been offered the same incentives as drivers to work Sundays the jobs would be have covered far more consistently. It's likely that this latest offer would have been agreed months ago had the doors issue not flared up again - I'm very interested to see...

Cancellations on Blackpool South line on Sundays

If there's no money to give the guards a fair wage to come in on their day off, there certainly ain't billions to spend upgrading the infrastructure to the spec required for DOO!

    Northern Conductor deal

Looks like the RMT NEC have overruled Company Council as the deal has gone to a referendum without a recommendation, whilst it's noted on the email that CEC wants to reject the deal.

    2026 Pay Award

If I was getting 3.6% this year anyway and probably something similar next year anyway, I'd want more than the difference for sacrificing the Sundays - if indeed that's all that's been sold? That's personal preference and I appreciate that others may think differently.

    2026 Pay Award

Doesn't seem that attractive (to me) when you consider most TOCs are giving around 3.5-4% for little or no strings - certainly not such a big change to t&c's.

Cancellations on Blackpool South line on Sundays

It is the lack of Sunday premium that is causing the cancellations at the moment - pass rides have little to do with it and taxis are used if required. If there was an adequate payment offered to conductors the jobs would be covered and the trains would run to a full Sunday timetable.

Cancellations on Blackpool South line on Sundays

That's irrelevant tbh as there's traincrew depots at Blackpool North and Blackburn who sign the route. However there is no appetite/funds to pay the guards to give up their days off to work these trains.

    2026 Pay Award

Only for drivers - talks are not going well (if at all!?) for other grades.

Avanti - Trainee Train Drivers - Recruitment Discussion

This is great advice. If I remember correctly, you'll also need to do the tones test whilst looking through a directory for matching shapes. If you can get a pack of cards and and search for pairs whilst listening for the tones, this will give you an idea of the actual test.
