I use the same technique all year round and never get delay slips. It's the drivers that tear around half the year using too much brake in good conditions that struggle in leaf fall.

If only the railway had spare/standby turns...

Send a competent person in a taxi to act as ground person (with radio) and propel down the two miles to Ince moss junction in less than 30 minutes to clear the line. Driver wouldn't even have to take power.

But he'll take the benefits of collective bargaining when it suits though.

Not sure how you can say network rail maintenance staff are just after a pay deal. Network rail want to completely change working practices for staff on the ground.

Nope. Not since the initial automated reply back in January. Not really bothered now after hearing about their employee relations recently.
