Some people seem to assume that we all have smart phones and have APPS ( whatever they are ! ) to enable us to buy tickets . Unfortunately there are large number of people , me included that do not have a smart phone and millions more , especially older people who have no idea about all this...

Sorry to show my great ignorance , must be my age , but I am not sure what constitutes a compulsory ticket area . It is not something of which I have ever heard. Could anyone please explain and put this ignoramus on track !!! Graham

Many years ago I seem to remember having to buy a platform ticket to get onto the platform but are these still required ? I enjoy visiting railway stations and obviously many un manned stations can just be walked on to. However , recently whilst in Shrewsbury I popped into the lovely station...

If there is an increase in the number of railway suicides and for that matter suicides in general could it not be that there is a larger population and so even the same percentage of suicides would result in greater numbers

His programs are always very interesting and he is a good presenter with a nice way with the people he speaks to. Much better television than all the so called reality rubbish

Perhaps a bit too old but one of the most pleasant was John Betjeman`s series on the pleasures of Branch Lines His quirky , slightly eccentric ways and his enthusiasm for country lines plus his disdain for motorcars made the programs enjoyable . I love to watch him on You tube...

rs !01. I certainly did read the opening post. I will slightly modify my statement. If you have an UP TO DATE railcard then damn well show it , and if not pay the full price. Is that better ?

I can`t understand all the discussion and palaver on this subject which seems so simple . If you have a card ,damn well show it and if not then pay full price . What could be more simple ?

Why not go the whole way : "My Lords , Ladies and Gentlemen , . Boys and girls and all others " That should keep everyone happy.
