Indeed but you knocked a crossrail suggestion with a hs2 reference. Therefore my rebuttal was likely to mention hs2 and to make sense of it I had to expand on my views.
I still mentioned west ealing greenford, oxford and part of the cotswold line, all GWR so therefore form part of the...
I am a fan of high speed but not the current hs2 plans. I feel the current ones haven't gained enough popular support. combine austerity, a weak yes campaign and the fact the Tories are alienating their heartland support, so I cant see it happening in the current form.
The biggest argument...
I think it would be sensible to hand over Northolt Junction to the planned West Ealing bay platform, to Chiltern Railways. Now this route is going to be run as a shuttle branch it would seem the perfect opportunity.
The planned shuttle could be extended to say West Ruislip and a...
Hopefully the oxford worcester service will experience passenger growth due to the current redoubling and a further flow of passengers may come when the chiltern trains begin to use oxford on 2013. With oxford-bletchley-Bedford re opening at some point there seems to be many opportunities for...
Have used the new chiltern 172's and not experienced any problems. Everyone comments how smooth they are and that is despite being used to a decent fleet. Yes it is a different gearbox with more pronounced change but nothing like on that video. Guess we are going to see posts slaying them for...
Good stuff, the only thing I would disagree is the comment about chiltern's 172's. The few they ordered are for use on the lower speed part of their network with a number of stops. The improved acceleration was more important to them than top speed. It didnt warrant the extra cost for them but...
The suggestion was purely because it makes sense to have one large class of identical trains rather than two classes of train. If parts for pacers have to be made then you would think this approach would be more cost effective but it really depends on how big the gulf in condition between the...
Am I right in saying that LM are introducing 172's on Bedford to bletchley?. Interesting that chiltern have a new 172 working oxford to bicester town. When oxford to bletchley fully re opens to passengers then we could see all of oxford to Bedford handled by 172's.
But I wasn't sure how many 150's LM had to start with. I took it that the 76 were the ones surplus to requirements, not that the 76 was the full extent of their stock. As I knew LM were keeping some 150's I did not regard those units as being replaced.
