just noticed today 168113 is sporting a lower fairing (not sure on the part name, the plastic part either side of coupling) on the front in the new colours. Are all parts now supplied/ repaired in the new colours?!
The refurbed sets have new padding, the older sets the padding has mostly collapsed, and is pretty hard, the based is noticeably higher on the returned sets
Putting up boards on the platform edge to cover progress and starting the dismantling of the escalator today.
Maybe they are putting it on platform 1/2 as that’s been boarded up again (it was out of action for what… 6months last year?).
Does anyone know the plan for platform4 in terms of timing?! Not seen anything mentioned, theoretically could be in use by the summer (if they really wanted), but definitely would help resilience short term and whilst they do future work and rejig moor st
Is the aim to get the 168s on the Birmingham route all up to 4 carriage and/or upgrade to 5 as a minimum, or is cascading to Oxford etc seen as higher priority?
Sorry maybe silly question, reading this would appear no units are in refurbishment (perhaps I’m just being a pedant ), and 004 /218 are just waiting delivery? Are other units in refurbishment?
It’s all good talking about the cascade, but unless they cascade and add carriages, current 165 users are likely to be standing more with a significant reduction in seating capacity.
With a 3 car 165 having 288 seats and the 168s just 204.
Think they need to restore platform 4 at Snow hill and at least #5 at Moor St sooner rather than later, will help with current resilience and help when they are making changes with the Bordesley chords later. Bit of a quick win.
Anyone know the plan for the escalators at snow hill, the one fire platform 1/2 has been out of action since October, and has been boxed up for a month now, assume that means it’s getting replaced, but no sign of any work being done to dismantle the old one. Any idea on timelines?
The train I selected for the first part of the journey was chiltern direct to snow hill. Previously the 1st fare offered was the £19.10 option, now it does not appear as any of the options, until you go through and specifically pick a return chiltern train?!
So on my return I had another play with the machine, selected by tickets (tickets to Birmingham were not one. Quick fares) , then by destination…return tickets for my train were ‘from’ £28 (which is a lie), then select return, you then have to scroll through the timetable for all the return...
