Just think it's a bit unfair to advertise a vacant position, with no mention of a talent pool, be successful and be told sorry they're no jobs. Like everyone, could really do with some good news in my life right now! I guess I could go for a walk and laugh at all the morons panic buying at the...
Well that's what I thought, but no such words were used in the email(s) I received, but it does sound like if a position becomes available they would call me. It's strange because during the interview they said there was a recruitment drive to employ more Shunters... I'm just wondering if some...
Has anyone ever gone for a position on the railway, succeeded in the interview, and then told that there are no vacancies at that particular depot for that particular role? Seems a bit of a hollow victory to be honest after a couple of years of trying to get in, not quite sure if I should be...
I thought mine went as well as it could to be honest, definitely better than the last two anyway! They snuck in a practical as well which just involved hooking up a tow on a mock up of a Class 43, preparing a carriage to be connected to an engine and decoupling an existing one and back on...
I assume this was at the Longrock depot? How did it go? I've got my interview tomorrow (2nd time for this position, 3rd time overall in 2 years :s ), I dread every one and the last one for maintenance support member was definitely a tough one with more STAR based lengthy questions!
I'm not sure if it's standard for any GWR role. The questions I have done in the past are to read through a passage of text about a particular subject, it then state something from it which you then have to say whether that was true, false or cannot say.
Most of the time the answer is cannot...
I know it's nuts isn't it. Shouldn't be surprised really, I've gone through it before but at least back then I had more frequent updates.
The difference this time was that I had already passed the Shunter assessment previously, so after my online test I had an email soon after to say I had...
I know the recruitment process is slow, but jeeeeez... I had the confirmation email that I passed my assessment at the depot back on the 21st Jan, and I'm still waiting to know if I've been short listed for an interview!
I've actually applied for a job at a electricity distribution company...
The last Shunter role I applied for in a different depot did not have you driving either, but you still have to go through the same assessments and training as if you were. I was told you're more like a 'glorified parking attendant'
I was just going through old emails for applications with GWR and my last full stretch application started from 27th March 2019 to the 'unfortunately you weren't successful' email on the 7th June from the result of my interview....
Well said! I get on really well with my manager, but I know for a fact that the company get the hump if you're looking for other work as it's probably deemed that your hearts not in it and they're not getting the most out of you. There's also the risk of treating you like crap and forcing you...
