    Rail train cancelled again today along with the empty and full runs to Tyne yard. You will just have to keep a eye on Realtraintimes to get that elusive shot of the train emerging the tunnel. I hope to be there also!

    Only two places where houses had to be removed as on trackbed. One at Stow and a row of houses at Gorebridge. These will more than likely be the ones you refer with the older building being the old station house which is still there. In the 60's they would not have been there anyway?

    Tracklaying update Sat 8th Nov. Track laid to just north side of the new Falahill road overbridge. Bottom ballasting and sleeper placement going on just in front of tracklayer through Heriot old station site. Ballasting has reached Borthwick Bank with up line more complete than the Down.

    Autoballasters have been running. Millerhill to Kingsgate ballasted. Tamper coming in from Slateford on Friday also. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- No they clip up roughly every third clip prior to train running over it. A follow up team behind train completes the clipping...

    Steel laid as far as nearly to south of Lothianbridge Viaduct. Sleepers laid at this section to nearly Newtongrange station but ballast prep today through station observed. Of course there are many other places sleepers are laid throughout with gaps in places as earth works etc are finished off.

    Just a bit of update Mon 13/10/14. Went out this morning to photo first load of ballast being laid by autoballasters but it ran too late for me to see. I had a look at extent of sleepers laid around Eskbank and spoke with Bam chap. Said there could be a bit of delay due to last minute piling...

    All pointwork will be installed prior to plain line installation. This is required to allow CWR train to progress from Millerhill end to unload.

    Yes provision for this apparently designed in. Plans show a turn back signal EMB277 to the south of Gorebridge platform to allow this move it appears.

    Latest info about Millerhill Yard has Scotrail planning to build a depot on old up yard reception siding area. Still at planning state but I have seen preminary designs. Also plans for a refuse depot on old Down yard sidings area have been mentioned a few times but nothing yet definate as far as...
