Erm, they cease to exist with GC. They won’t be returning to GC after and will be part of the XC fleet. They were never fully GC’s anyway.

I doubt there would be much of an issue other than potentially at Temple Meads. They’ll be cleared for Bristol Parkway > Cardiff anyway as part of the work previously undertaken for the Grand Union application.

Not only that, but GC are / were in the same boat too, and they operate an almost Alstom fleet (180s). At least the 221s will have some commonality, along with the added experience of Central Rivers being close by.

Indeed they are, Arriva / GC obviously has enough confidence in the Adelante’s now, potentially with 4 more arriving, that these two can depart the fleet for pastures new.

Agreed, the hyperbole in this thread sometimes is ridiculous. Sure the introduction has not been smooth, but when @Jrocks and his team gets to grip with the fleet they will be a valuable addition to the West Country fleet.

159009 + 159010 are currently together heading for Waterloo on the 1L54 1547 Salisbury to London Waterloo service.

To be fair, the East Coast HSTs were a law unto themselves - the replacement of the original suspension design on the Mk3s with something from Pegasus made them significantly more bouncy and less pleasant to ride in - they were later changed to a new original design from SKF when the sets moved...

On that note, and perhaps it could happen with GBR, but I’ve felt for a while that 798 would be a better fit with SWR with a 1 or 2 2 cars going the opposite way to GWR. More so now that a lot of the GWR 158/9s have been disbanded.

Can’t say I can hear anything unusual in that, it just sounds like a either a control wire is a little lose causing one car to power down before raising the revs up or the WSP has kicked in temporarily cutting power to one car. Both cars are powering and can be heard as they disappear off into...

And 202s just come back with some shiny new tyres :frown:
