I was at Marylebone this morning and an announcement kept being played asking for inspector sands to go to platform 21. I know this is a call for the police and platform 21 is code for a location but I was wondering where on the station "platform 21" is and if other stations have specific...

The year is 1957 and the train is hauled by a 47 followed by a scene of the train pulling in to the station with a western in the adjacent platform!

I dont know if this has been covered before, so apologies if it has, but I thought it would be interesting to compile a list of nicknames for loco class's and see if there are any regional patterns.
The reasoning for the name would be interesting too.

To manage spikes in demand National Grid have to pay for powerstations to sit there generating electricty but not putting it out to the grid so it can be switched in at short notice, "Spinning Reserve". It costs a lot of money to have a power station...
