    Axle counters likley not configured for a 'wrong' direction movement are likley to at least produce an alarm. Possibly the supervisory section might correct the count and reset the track after the fact. However, whilst a signal will drop back to red as soon as the overlap track circuit is...

    Have a look at this thread https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/great-train-robbery-signalling-query.255624/ It would appear that the Yellow in the distant was also false fed, however the green bulb was removed (instead of covered) so the signalman received a lamp failure alert.

    Also of interest (I think) is the consistent use of the LCU (average 10 per month) at this crossing. What was the use of the LCU mitigating? Either the system had repeated failures that were either not reported, or resolved, or there were specific movements that the signalling was not designed...
