As these load gauges are classed as traffic signs, all the information you need is in section 20.2 of Traffic Signs Manual Chapter 4.

The double white lines at the crossing indicate a no stopping restriction, so no parking is allowed. And the police (or anyone) are not allowed to pass the twin flashing red lights, so they shouldn't even have thought about it.

Is there not a difference between a distant signal and a repeater signal? The repeater indicates the state of the next signal but a distant indicates that all signals controlled by that box are clear (and also that a yellow distant followed by a green signal means the next signal after the green...

No idea I'm afraid. I just noticed that it had changed a long time ago.

It used to have a red aspect too, which is why it has a TC. The signal in question, and the signal opposite, are three aspect heads that only show green or yellow, but both used to also show red.

I used to get the train to Fife for work every day and I can think of two or three occasions in those five years that the rail bridge was closed for high winds. Of course that means the road bridge is closed completely too so just had to work from home!

Indeed, I seem to remember someone confirming that they are amber rather than yellow. From looking at them, they certainly seem to be "browner" As shown here and here Certainly the ones at Dundee repeat the theater indicator, off, and three others that never seem to be illuminated.

And at the back of platform starters where the train is sitting in advance?
