I noticed that on the 6:39 Exeter St David’s to Paddington service that the trolley service is no more in standard class “due to staff cutbacks on the route”. First class offering remains as before.
Drivers and train crew were able to do an inspection and isolate the issue. Fair play to all involved…especially as it started to snow whilst we were stuck. On board communication was very good too with crew doing walk around as checking on any vulnerable passengers.
I’m on the train and we have just hit 2 Deer on the tracks, quite the judder and significant clunking sounds from under the train.
We’ve come to a stop and the driver is reporting significant damage to the underside of the train and breakpads.
Going to be a long morning I think

In the mid 90s for 20 or so years I used Charing Cross daily, going through there now it just seems like a shadow of its former self. Can’t put my finger on what’s changed…maybe losing Burger King and the little pub next door just makes it feel emptier?
Can I put a vote in for Slade Green, pretty sure some peak services terminate there (or at least used to). Utterly grim in a sea of NW Kent nothingness.
Thanks for your replies, interesting that they decided to keep Gatwick as a destination on what is clearly new (purple and white) Southeastern signage when there hasn’t been a service in some time.
Noticed at East Farleigh station earlier…Platform 1 for services to Paddock Wood, Tonbridge and Gatwick Airport.
Obviously there are no services to Gatwick but it’s surely stretching it when the only way to get to Gatwick is with TWO changes of train (Tonbridge & Redhill).
Just wondered if...
