Does anyone know if I'm entitled to a refund, given my booked train was cancelled AND the alternative route I'm taking will mean I get to my destination over 2.5 hours late? On the website, all I can see are the Delay Repay options, which seems to apply to delayed trains, rather than cancelled ones.

That's so sad. I took the advice and legged it to KX. Am now on a train ready to depart to Leeds! I should be able to pick up a Preston train from there (hopefully!!).

Re the new Virgin WC timetable, can someone tell me exactly what date in December the new one takes effect? All I can see is 'to Dec' on the old one and 'from Dec' on the new one.

I've been looking for Virgin West Coast Advance tickets, to book for 28th Dec between Preston and Euston, and there are absolutely no advance tickets, for any trains on that date (I've been looking every single morning, every day for 3 weeks, just in case the normal 12 week advance was changed...
