Hope everyone on board had a great weekend...footage of the northbound run at Scout Green on Friday where it was checked by the slow moving Seaforth-Mossend intermodal ahead, then possibly breaking more new ground for the class today? opening up through Hindley on the direct Wigan-Manchester...
Looks like there's some movement southbound now. 9S77 appears to be heading back south from Lockerbie and 1M18 is on the move from Carstairs 166 late. Southbound intermodals are moving as well; 4M11 has had a clear run all the way through Scotland and is only 14 late approaching Carlisle, 4M48...
Looks like there's a similar blanket speed restriction on the west coast too north of Gretna Junction. What little is still trying to head north has been losing 40+ minutes between there and Carstairs
The Mont Blanc Express from Martigny in Switzerland to Vallorcine just over the border into France switches from overhead to 3rd rail and vice versa multiple times during its 13 or so miles. Very tight clearances in most of the tunnels though, particularly that on the 1 in 5 climb out of the...
IIRC the first service of the day to Windermere started at Lancaster, ran to Morecambe then used the Bare Lane-Hest Bank side of the triangle to continue north. Can't remember whether it called at Bare Lane heading towards Morecambe only or both ways.
There's enough clearance already as it's quite a high bridge so nothing needs doing to it. They've already put a post in the centre of the arch to carry the wires
Thanks mate, much appreciated. Surprisingly didn't get bitten at all, even when wading through the tall grass and bogs to Ais Gill viaduct and back to see if there was a shot possible there...
Top marks to LSL for putting this one on, I expect as it was so popular that it won't be the only time we see a tour like it...footage from an epic day of D400 at Tebay, 45118 at Ais Gill, D213 at Eldroth, the 37's at Walk Mill and Leyland and the 20's also at Leyland, with a shot of 34067 on...
In the latter days of BR and possibly beyond it did come from Cornwall using the then new silver bullets; I believe the run from St Blazey to Irvine was the longest distance freight working in the country. I'm sure someone could shed some light on why it was switched to coming all the way from...

So this happened this morning...156413 was the unit involved working 2N03 0946 Ormskirk-Preston. Unfortunately not the first time there's been a collision between train and tractor here. As well as a very...
