I see that the 1141 Orpington to Cannon Street (2F31) service departed Hither Green at 1158 today, at which point it hit a power failure, possibly caused by a lightning strike.
SouthEastern Twitter reported at 12:43 that a rescue train was being sent from Lewisham.
This was later updated at...
Another typical week on Southeastern. I know that many of these issues are not the fault of the TOC, but the end result is constant disruption for passengers who are already paying through the nose to stand in cramped peak time trains.
All week we have been subject to the amended leaf-fall...
Whilst it can be argued that politics over the past three years is broken, it is hard to argue that the Lords or the Monarch have been the cause of any of the Brexit shambles, or that replacing them would have led to a different outcome.
It can also be argued that politics over the past three...
Make Grove Park double deck, upper deck accessed from one side, lower deck from the other side. Sink it in the ground so that it doesn’t spoil the landscape. Problem solved. Could do the same at Slade Green.
Slade Green expansion is the obvious candidate, land is available to expand eastwards, and possibly using the triangle which must already be railway land.
An off the wall suggestion, but could the Bromley North line be used for stabling overnight as a temporary solution? Grove Park itself...
Surely common sense will prevail and some sort of exception can be made?
Bromley North to Grove Park is less than five minutes per journey, with both stations having disabled toilet facilities. Reducing capacity in SouthEastern land in order to tick a compliance box is madness.
No disabled...
So just to clarify, the adults can buy tickets from New Eltham to London, and the kids can have £1 tickets from Dartford or Stone Crossing? Or do the adult tickets have to match the child tickets?
The website suggests it is not valid inside zones 1-8, hence my assumption that Stone Crossing is...
Zip cards don’t offer free travel on National Rail services, so would require PAYG topups. It’s for a group of cub scouts and the logistics of sorting that out is just too hard and difficult.
I’ve been given an interesting challenge which I thought would be simple, New Eltham to London Bridge for a group of three adults and twelve children, departing on a Friday off peak (6pm) returning the following evening on Saturday. No railcards and due to the logistics of 12 children from...
I think that’s the point, he didn’t think sufficiently.
He must have been unaware of how it could have been interpreted, otherwise why would would he have deliberately posted something racist and offensive and then deleted it and apologised minutes later?
There is something deeply unsettling that we now live in an age where typing four words and picking an amusing historical picture to post on social media can result in you losing your job less than 12 hours later.
I’m not sure what more Danny could have done to rectify the situation. He posted...
Unsafe, but very efficient. 6 seats across as a sprung bench, 12 per compartment plus you could squeeze a few standing as well if needed. Plenty of luggage space in the racks above. Also very efficient loading and unloading with a slam door per compartment. Watching one of those unload on...
