How reliable is 1M81, 0612 TPE Edinburgh to Manchester?

I realised that I forgot to add that another way to go is to take the overnight sailing from Heysham at around 02:15 in the morning. The Manxman is a comfortable boat with many places that you can get some sleep but only about 3 to 4 hours. You can have a doze in the Sea Terminal when you...

How reliable is 1M81, 0612 TPE Edinburgh to Manchester?

I travel a lot to the Isle of Man from Fife and I would not chance the 06:12 from Edinburgh. Though the ferrry (fastcraft - Manannan) leaves at 11:15, checkin closes at 10:50 for foot passengers. I would suggest that he goes via Heysham and whilst the advertised connection is the 10:11 from...

    Arbroath -> Aberdeen

That map is missing some vital information. The East Scotland Day Rider is valid to Aberdeen on the X7. Also is seems on the 107 (Montrose to Stonehaven) and 727 (Stonehaven to Aberdeen Airport). Best place to check is Stagecoach App.

Manx Heritage Transport Festival 2025 itinerary suggestions.

You are correct, the cakes are really yummy at Groudle. They also do afterooon teas on certain days which require booking in advance - ggr.co.uk I would also recommend Rushen Abbey a 10/15 minute walk from Ballasalla station (or take the Douglas/Port Erin bus). It has an excellent indoor...

    1V58 (10:07 Edinburgh to Penzance) - 30/12/2024

It looks like 1V58 ( (10:07 Edinburgh to Penzance) failed between Belford and Chathill today on the East Coast Mainline (ECML). According to RTT (realtimetrains.co.uk) it was formed off 220003 and 220010. It would appear that they've split the train and one unit gone back to Belford then run...

Scotrail not accommodating delays on advance tickets

ScotRail themselves sell split tickets and on their website they have FAQs about splittickets including this: https://www.scotrail.co.uk/digital-train-tickets/split-train-tickets

Was Scotrail a separate sector under British Rail?

ScotRail (initially it was Scotrail but people asked what is Sco trail? So it was changed to ScotRail). It was setup by Chris Green, General Manager of the Scottish Region, in the early 80s as a disctinctive brand for the rail network in Scotland. The Scottish Region HQ was Buchanan House in...

Levenmouth rail link to reopen: project updates

Just checking the timetable again and the there is one Outer Circle left on a Sunday - 21:55 from Edinburgh out via Dunfermline and return via Kirkcaldy. Monday to Fridays there is one service each way between Glenrothes/Kirkcaldy (06:18 from Edinburgh, Outer Circle out via Dunfermline and...

Levenmouth rail link to reopen: project updates

Not any more from this Sunday, 2nd June the service via Kirkcaldy now goes to Leven rather than Glenrothes. The Glenrothes via Dunfermline now terminates at Glenrothes and returns same route.

    Avanti West Coast cancellations

Seems no Anglo Scottish Strangely seems all Anglo Scottish running, many late departures and at least one from Edinburgh terminated at Wolverhampton but otherwise far better than Friday and Saturday.

    Avanti West Coast cancellations

Friday was dreadful, at least 4 of the first Glasgow to Euston were cancelled. We were in the 0852 Edb to Lancaster which picked up two trainloads at Carlisle and Oxenholme. We were travelling to the Isle of Man and should be able to catch the 1012 TPE but dare not on case it's cancelled. For...

Collision and derailment near Salisbury (Fisherton Tunnel) 31/10/21

Yes, I accept that it shouldn't have been near the junction but it was. It would not be the first time that for whatever reason a train has passed a protecting signal (wheelslip, equipment failure etc) and taken switch diamonds as a facing crossover (Greenhill lower many years ago is one).

Collision and derailment near Salisbury (Fisherton Tunnel) 31/10/21

Sorry this is speculation but Yes I was wondering that. Sorry for the speculation but I was wondering if the diamond crossing is a switched diamond then its possible that the second train was diverted onto the other line. Moderator note: This is not the case; it is a fixed diamond
