Northern Delay Repay taking a while

I received an email today: "Please accept our apologies for the delay in processing your claim that we received on Mon, 25 May 2026. We are currently experiencing high volumes of claims which is preventing us from assessing your claim as quickly as usual. We will do our best to assess your...

Northern Delay Repay taking a while

Thanks for your reply. I didn't want to bother them with what is a trivial matter. Just wondered if anyone knew whether there was a backlog at the moment. In the past, I've had an email to that effect, advising that it's taking longer than usual.

Northern Delay Repay taking a while

Hi all, Does anyone know if there if delay repay claims are taking a long time to process at Northern Rail? I've had one that been sat a couple of weeks. I know it says '20 working days' but I've generally found it to be fairly quick. I had a season ticket the last few years so I used the...

New trains vs further developing existing designs

I meant using the existing design as a starting point for further development, utilising the good points and upgrading where necessary. E.g. Keep the Mk 3 based shell and it's dimensions. Keep the driver cab if possible to retain familiarity. Quieter, more efficient engines. Better...

New trains vs further developing existing designs

I was thinking how, in aviation for example, designs such as the Boeing 737 are developed and improved over time, whereas rolling stock is mostly redesigned when new trains are ordered. Would it result in a better product if existing rolling stock were further refined to improve shortfalls in...

Cycles at Stations: Red Rear Light Safety Risk?

I'd suggest a couple of solutions: Notices regarding this to be placed adjacent to bike racks at stations and racks on trains so that over time, the message is disseminated to those it concerns. For vehicles that can't switch the red light off, scooters, electric bikes and so on, I'm sure a...

Ah, so you would ban the suggestions of banning things from users who have been to the pub, prior to posting?

Comedic "things you would ban": minor things that irritate you

After consuming several real ales this evening I have concluded that... I would ban people ranting about things that they would ban, therefore rendering this thread redundant...

Comedic "things you would ban": minor things that irritate you

People wearing hoodies with the hood up in fine weather. I always assume they're up to no good. I'd suggest making it legal to thwack them upside the head with a cricket bat when encountering such behaviour. Would soon correct the issue...

Difficulty Loading Adobe Photoshop Elements / Premiere Elements onto new PC - Any suggestions / recommended alternatives

Have you tried right mouse clicking the original installers and running them in 'Compatibility mode'? https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/make-older-apps-or-programs-compatible-with-the-latest-version-of-windows-783d6dd7-b439-bdb0-0490-54eea0f45938

Porterbrook Class 150 gifted to Mid Hants Railway.

The class 150s go up and down the Penistone Line all day long, including 150001 and 150002. I think they're pretty decent on that line tbh. With slight layout tweaks they could be made to be excellent despite their age. Wonder how easily a Mk. 3 First Class interior would fit into a 150. 'Pimp...

Trivia: Unusual or Amusing Messages to Passengers

There was a conductor in the late 90s on Barnsley to Sheffield services who used to start announcements with a 'Cockadoodledoo' air horn then proceed with 'Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen, Grandmas and Grandads, Aunties and Uncles, Inlaws and Outlaws...' Used to get a few smiles but it did...

Complexity isn't the Issue with Rail Fares...

The other silliness in West Yorkshire is the cost for someone who lives close to the border e.g. Darton and being able to purchase a cost effective monthly pass. It's a shame you can't buy the equivalent of a South Yorkshire Travelmaster that covers a maximum radius from your home station.
