ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

So we’ll see them all here by December then? Yes. Long after is fair comment. There’s still all the train crew training to come, so first set in service in September at the earliest? 3 months is long after, particularly after losing even more 170s and 158s making the shortformed...

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

I could, but I don’t do Twitter, and I’m not signing up to something just to get an answer. It doesn’t take long to look at his feed to see he’ll only address complementary posts though. So fairly pointless. As a passenger fed up of 2 car trains on “Inter7City” services long after HSTs should...

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

No information to deliver is itself information. I googled Alex Hynes. More posts from him about fancy ticket punch designs and kids going to see trains than any information on why the HSTs aren't here. If you're going to back slap and self promote everything great, don't be surprised people...

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

There was plenty info about the 385 window problems. Nothing about the HSTs. Consistency of delivering information would be nice.

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

No it wouldn't. There's another one in 15 minutes. And there's 2 decent, and a third alternative route too. It's a sub 1 hour journey. Central Belt to Aberdeen is hourly, and lasts longer, and has no alternatives. E&G is the only show in town to the railway though.

“We” most certainly are not! ;) Maybe “we” could stop using 2 car 158s on Aberdeen services!!!

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

Which is why I said after it’s been wired! Final mile is only for the get you out of jail scenarios. Would require better diagramming, keeping electric sets off diesel diagrams, but much better for the much vaunted green credentials than flogging previous generation Diesel engines and higher...

Would have seen better access to Gateway if used properly. No guarantees it’ll ever happen.

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

Agree. Mark 5 with diesels on a lease until the various routes are wired up, and electrics with final mile diesel engine thereafter. Would love to know carbon emissions for going with the HST option, than a latest generation.

And that’s a great loss however, especially the Dalmeny chord. Very short term thinking.

Disabled Tanyalee Davis - more rail travel woes.

Absolutely. 50 was just a number to show how much the labour costs alone would be astronomical. I wouldn’t even dare to think how many staff would be required for the money is no hindrance option, that goes way beyond any reasonableness test.

I agree, there should be more staff for all customers. A few more staff per station, at £25/30k salary, plus pension, plus other costs, at 50 staff across the country, it’s easily £3 Million. Peanuts to the industry, I agree, ain’t happening though. And with the greatest respect, your earlier...

Sorry, but the cost has to be reasonable. If it costs a Billion to implement it, it’s not going to happen.
