    Trainspotter App

I'd be quite happy to whip an app up. But not for free.

Tube terror threat hoax (via Facebook)

If someone had plans to hijack a train, everything they need is on a certain auction site. Keys, manuals, hi vis etc... --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Facebook is an incredibly useful tool. Like for me, it helps me keep in touch with relatives abroad, see what my other bike...

    FGW rumours

I heard a rumour FGW are rubbish. Is that true too?

    NFC Emulation, anyone use it?

Security on Android is reasonably good unless, like you say, you are willing to dig and mess around. I've managed to unlock my handset from my network by rooting it. It's fairly easy.

    NFC Emulation, anyone use it?

Have a read through this... Basically you need Android 4.4 KitKat to even consider it. https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/connectivity/nfc/hce.html --- old post above --- --- new post below --- I'm using a Sony Xperia Z1, (rooted and unlocked) with an NFC control app I found on...

    Cycling on the train...your thoughts.

I'm glad you touched on that. Really hacks me off on units when you see all the bikes piled in bars first. Then you have to tr and drag yours out. Always helps to actually ask where other people are going too, nothing worse than being blocked in by some lycra clad idiot with drop bars.

    NFC Emulation, anyone use it?

As the title suggests does anyone use NFC emulation on their mobile phone for their Osyter cards, bank cards, building swipe passes or anything like that? I've got mine set up and linked with my Oyster card and our buildings alarm fob. I've also got a few site tags on it for getting through...

    Modern Communications

Point number one for me is my hatred of Windows. I will avoid using a computer as much as possible. I use Android and Android alone. I read books, but on my phone. I have the Google Play Books app and it is fairly decent. As for texting, it is far easier and more convenient for me to text...

    Walking etiquette

I always assumed, and as such always practised, that walking on the left was the done thing. I also always pass other cyclists on the left, as a car would.

Tickets on expenses and penalty fares question

At the moment I buy weekly seasons. I can generally get some warning about being out the office.

How close do Pacers get to London?

There aren't any Pacer workings to Swindon anymore, nor Westbury. My best guess would be Temple Meads or Cheltenham.

Tickets on expenses and penalty fares question

Because the days that I am out the office it would be no use. I often end up on site and it can be for a day at a time or a week at a time. So I'd end up paying twice as I'd need another ticket...

    Cycling on the train...your thoughts.

I am relieved to know you are a fair guard and I commend that. Strange how she suddenly remembered eh ;) The reservations policy is odd, every TOC has a different policy and they swap and change on what seems a daily basis. But on longer services they are almost mandatory on FGW...

Tickets on expenses and penalty fares question

It's fine chap, I did expect what you said to be fair. I just wanted some clarification on where I stand. The answer, obviously, is precariously :( I will have to speak to work about what can be sorted with my expenses and possibly speak to TSB about them sorting the cards out. Until then...
