    Trivia: Unusual timetabled services?

1254 Windermere to Barrow TPE 185... Route is WDM - Oxy then Lancaster reverse. Back through Carnforth and onto Barrow. Yonks ago there were direct trains from Kendal to Grange via the Hincaster spur.

    Northern and TPE Consultation Document

A bi-mode IEP "regional" unit would be ideal for TPE to run under the wires on the core network, but still operate a quality train at the extremes of their network ie Barrow, Middlesbrough, Scarborough (Hull presumably wired...) 125-140 capable so future proof if HS3 ever happens

    Night trains in bygone eras

There was the Nightrider from Euston to Glasgow in the early/mid 80s. Never went on it, but from memory it was a full length seated train (were there sleepers on it as well?) and BR made a big thing of advertising it.

Freedom of North West 4 in 8 - Dec 2014

You've had a good run so far Ash...I did mine the week before (as reported!) Hope you've had time to do either the S&C or Cumbrian coast...musts for the NW Rover. Did you consider the North Country Rover, 4 days in 8 for £88...

    50 years of BR's Double-Arrow logo

Certainly a very recognisable logo. I could never decide if it was coming or going

    North West Rover

You're not wrong Noddy Braystones area is mad for seaside dwellings. They've got cars parked up there as well outside their houses.

    North West Rover

The S&C has not surprisingly had massive publicity over the years and the Coast line has had none. The stretch from Arnside over the Kent Viaduct through to Grange is lovely as well.

    North West Rover

Tried to post my review and was timed out. Did a full review of trains times and details. Not happy...:( Ok...4 great days. Took in S&C twice and the Cumbrian Coast (the most scenic line in England IMHO) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwN6q36Ewqo
