What is ASLEF and RMT's take on this - I was under impression that Sundays is usually overtime/voluntary or on a rota of 'one a month' for all drivers ?

Try for conductor roles? Yes you have to be out and about but more mobility means you can nip in when you need?

Is pride really the best 'core incentive' to join an intense job like driving? Okay, finding a company you're happy to work for day in day out is a definite, but in terms of 'bragging rights'..?

Good luck lad - be sure to research the company, its recent achievements, its forward-ambitions eg expansion of staff and services in light of franchise extension, as well as the history of the company. Once in there, stay calm, and relax. :) You'll be okay.

Well done on getting to stage two. Stage two is the assessment day - three tests including the infamous Group Bourdon. Classroom / exam room environment. On no account must you be late - it will be noted. LonMid do the tests one day then release everyone - final stage interviews are later on...
