As you say the former Healey Mills Depot is indeed closed (used to me MASSIVE) and now has only one or two active roads going through it , as the Signal box is still there and in use. Its quite a daunting place and desolate at 3am in the fog !

When I applied last year DB took into account previous passes I had with TPE and I only had to sit a couple that I hadn't already completed. That said from what I undertstand the tests have changed since I did them so this may not be the case anymore.
I'm not sure how true that is , for example I am an one of quite a few external applicants brand new to the railway and am currently on the training course. Our course is approx 50/50 between internal and external. Just sayin! :D

It's going really well mate , first couple of weeks have been a bit chaotic with a lot of info coming our way to take in. Had a few cab rides and did the PTS course. Got hands on with a 66 and an 09 , did some coupling up, a signal lesson , and other HR / admin type bits and bobs too...

Just getting ready to go in for my last ever shift as a Bobby..... felling a little strange to be fair. Definitely feels VERY REAL now , just hope my last shift goes swimmingly and I can drive away with no loose ends or unfinished jobs!

Re: The rail warrant , I am the same as you I had planned on driving at least for the first week to get my stuff from A to B with the minimum of hassle....also as you have already said the route would be the same...

Crazy, I'm in a similair boat as are a few of us mate , last shift is 29th. I've sent back all the required paperwork (pension / uniform/acceptance etc) so I would hope we will hear more this week.

Jim I'd be happy to consider it once we have the lay of the land after the first couple of weeks.....I live on the Wirral......however unless you have your own Skid Lid and protective gear, and are happy clinging on to my back getting there and back , I dont think I should be the one providing...
