    ATW Business Class query

Thanks for replies, Always appreciated. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Thanks for reply, when I used it in November with a Britrail Pass, it was fine too but was just clarifying that nothing had changed since. Shrewsbury seems to be quite a popular going to destination...

    ATW Business Class query

Hi Everyone. Last year in November I travelled on the Gerald train with a First Class Britrail pass and I am going to do the same in May. I noticed that it has been rebranded to Business Class now so was wondering if a First Class Britrail Pass would still be valid on this service. Also, do...

Britrail Passes - deliverable to UK addresses

Interesting about the passes being available in the UK. On a side note, regarding ID, my last visit using a BritRail pass was last year in November and I had to show my passport just once during the whole trip. I guess you can guess where?? Going from BB21s post. Euston, boarding a...

Trivia: Station that can reach most stations within a county.

Barnham must be for West Sussex. Serves direct services to Bognor, Littlehampton, Brighton, Victoria via Hove and Arun Valley line etc. Of course you can not get a train from Barnham that would stop at a station like Balcombe for example, but I think from Barnham you could get to most...

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

I will be travelling on the 17:00 from KGX to York soon. Can that be quite busy in First Class or because of the fact that the first stop is York mean that is normally not so bad as the other services leaving after that all mostly seem to go to Peterborough as well? Craig

FGW to convert First Class carriages

I will hopefully be giving the new First Class a try from around 10 days time with my Brit Rail pass. Will see how it goes as I have no idea which services will have it or not. Will try and get the 10:06 from Paddington on one of the days anyway.

Strangest thing you've heard/seen on the rail network...

I remember stopping just after Ford and just before where the line crosses over the River Arun and I was on an at the time Regional Railways Class 158 going to Brighton in the morning. After we stopped the driver announced there was a swan on the track ahead. After about ten minutes we were on...

    Sweden trip advice

Yes that is what take you upto the top of the Stockholm Globe, which is where they have concerts and music events mostly. I can understand now why it can be thought of as the London Eye as the capsule looks similar.

    Sweden trip advice

Yes, lots of them on the trains as well, they don't bother you so much but will walk up and down the trains putting picture cards down etc.. But yes, begging has got quite bad here since I first came here. Every underground station will have them sitting around as well.. --- old post above ---...

    Sweden trip advice

That's good you have a personal number, like most things, you really have to access the Swedish SL site and not the English one to find out about most of the info. It is called Reskassan on the TVMs there now. Where you can load up your SL card with journeys etc

What is the "perfect" First Class service?

Wish I could get that 20:00 to try Yorkie, unfortunately at the time of the night I need to be travelling towards the Sussex coast. I will be using my Brit Rail GB pass in a few weeks and so will be travelling with quite a few operators. Am going to go on the Arriva train (WAG) from Cardiff...

    Sweden trip advice

They do have a kind of a PAYG system running now, but it is only for Swedish resisdents, have to have a personnumber. But what you can do at home now is to register an account and you can put money onto your SL access card. You can then add your most commonly used journey and then if you have...

    Sweden trip advice

Hi Jon. Yes, the SL local trains were extended so that they now run between Uppsala and Stockholm, instead of just as far as Märsta. If you want to go further than Arlanda on the SL trains to Uppsala then you have to pay a supplement. Regional trains and other SJ trains still stop at Arlanda...
